Help keep your local museum free to the public! Please consider in supporting the Museum’s mission to collect, preserve, document, exhibit, research, study and interpret objects relating to natural and cultural history, primarily of South Dakota and surrounding areas. To further our mission, the museum develops interpretive exhibitions, programming, contributions to publications, guided tours of the museum, relationships with researchers and more. Your donation will go towards children’s programming, exhibits, and overall upkeep of the Museum.

As a means of supporting the museum, the Friends of the W. H. Over Museum was founded in 1967. In 1973, the management of the museum passed from USD to the South Dakota Cultural Preservation Department. Following the loss of State funding in 1996, the Friends of the W. H. Over Museum incorporated to run the museum with the help of few paid staff and dedicated volunteers. We are currently running as a nonprofit organization. Please support the museum and donate today!
